About
My Design Philosophy
Many people believe art can only be defined as fine art. This is a more purist way of thinking. If this is how you feel, my work may not appeal to you. However, if you like the combination of several mediums and indie crafts..you've come to the right place.
My Inspiration
I am inspired by many things. It may be travel, home interiors, nature, architecture, urban gear....or as simple as a child's painting. Everything somehow gets absorbed and gets filtered into a new design.
However, I have always loved vintage fashions from the 1950's and 1960's, when men and women dressed up and glamour was in style. My favorite designers from that time period are Elsa Schiaperelli and Emilio Pucci...Elsa for her fashion forward shocking pink designs and Emilio for his wonderful abstract and geometric prints which are still worn today.
My handbag designs are inspired from the boxey Lucite bags of the 50's and 60's combined with my love for music and pop culture.
I use ORIGINAL album covers, Playbills, and movie posters in my art to make funky handbags and home furnishings. I have been making these for almost 10 years. I have been making recycled crafts since I was 10...partly out of being practical and partly out of wanting something eco-chic!
Some of you shake your head at the shows and say, 'how could you do this to a perfectly good record album?'. Please be reassured no living creature was harmed in the making of our products. In fact, we're keeping it from going into the landfill. Unfortunately, most vinyl isn't worth a lot of money. It's true, you will not be paying your house off with all the records you have collecting dust in the attic. Don't get me wrong, the sentimental value is priceless, but if they were worth a lot of money, I would be selling vinyl as my full time job. Most of our vinyl is acquired through our recycling program.
