Everyone has a story, this is Emily's....
Emily Gartner's established career as an artist and entreprenuer has transformed over the past 23 years from working in New York City's Women's Wear industry as a fashion promoter and later channeling those talents to start a freelance business.
Initially, Emily began designing for clients like Pfaff sewing machines, Offray Ribbon, and Rosebar Textiles. Later she enriched her background in fibers by working as an Assistant Curator in the Textile Department at the Allentown Art Museum. At the same time, she was starting to sell her handbag and pillow designs at local art shows part time. The amazing antique and vintage needleworks she discovered at the museum encouraged her to seek out some of those same items to incorporate into her own handbag and pillow designs. The market was very limited for this type of high end item, so Emily decided to use reclaimed album covers for her handbags left over from a craft project she did with her then young son. This blossomed into what is now today Album Cover Handbags.
Recently, Emily was awarded a large grant from her community for running a successful sustainable business.
